TREND WATCH
Thomas Saggese has surged since May 29. In 75 plate appearances since that date, his OPS stands at 1.101 -- compared to 0.410 across his first 74 PA of the season. The split is as clean a dividing line as you will find on this roster: one date in late May, two different hitters.

Elsewhere the news is worse. The Cardinals have blown 6 saves in the last 15 games and 30 all season, and they have made 0.68 errors per game over the last 21 days, the 4th-most in the majors. Matthew Liberatore carries a 6.58 ERA over his last 27 starts (since April 13), against a 3.50 mark in the 3 starts before that stretch.
